What have I been up to lately?

May 2012
I was asked to be a ‘guest expert’ on two “riparian bike tours” of Temescal Creek hosted by the Water Underground.

February 2012
Five years at EBMUD!

Jan 2011
I have been serving on the Board of Directors of Keep Oakland Beautiful for one year now. Also first winter of rainwater collection, 500 gallons capacity, mainly it is to keep the foundation and crawl-space of my house drier, but the $1.33 worth of stored up water will be nice too, especially after the earthquake.

June 2010:
I finished my greywater system at my North Oakland house.  It shuttles the shower water underneath my house to the front yard, where it is distributed in a branched drain system.  It was one of the first residential greywater systems permitted in Oakland.

January 2010:
California’s new residential greywater code is adopted.

July 2009
I took a position at EBMUD in the Wastewater Department, in a program called Resource Recovery, which is a waste-to-energy program utilizing organic liquid and solid wastes in our anaerobic digesters.

March 2009:
The Greywater Alliance has been working with other stakeholders around the state to create a much less restrictive greywater code in California. So far it looks promising.

December 2008:
I am also working with some other locals on the Greywater Alliance, an effort to make permits for greywater systems more accessible in Oakland and beyond.

August 2008
Currently I am working at the East Bay Municipal Utility District (www.ebmud.com) in the Water Conservation Division.
